Optical control of topological edge states

Researchers achieved active and reversible control over topological end states in the bulk of a one-dimensional Su-Schrieffer-Heeger lattice. High-intensity pump light forms a discrete spatial soliton, which in turn induces a linear topological end state on a neighboring site, probed by a weaker probe beam. This optical approach enables dynamic tuning of topological properties without modifying the physical structure of the system.
