During the first funding period the so-called i-OSCAR retreats were organized and provided several opportunities of personal trainings. According to the students wishes soft-skill courses were offered, such as hands-on English writing, presentation exercises, and career development workshops.
These measures were combined wiht visits of external experts who covered special topics and/or to gave career advice.
Finally, the retreats were also combined with team-building and social activities which helped to a better identification with OSCAR.
The first student retreat was attached to the annual retreat at the Marienburg and consisted of a team buildung course as well as a soft skill course on Poster and oral presentation, offered by Dr. Leigh Fernandez (Department of Psycholinguistics, TUK).
Retreat Ebernburg (April 3 - 4, 2018)
The second student retreat (also attached to the annual retreat at the Ebernburg) offered a soft-skill-course on How do I apply in writing and orally?
At the third student retreat, participants were divided into 2 working groups corresponding to the topics of the CRC. Within these groups, students discussed and reflected their own as well as their colleagues´ research, their possible position within OSCAR and the possible interactions with other projects.
The results were written down and made accessable to the whole CRC.
Retreat Marienburg (October 2, 2019)
The fourth student retreat again was attached to the annual retreat at the Marienburg, with discussions in project groups and team building acitvities.
Due to travel restrictions during the Corona pandemic i-OSCAR retreats have been temporarily suspended.
